A Weekend at West Yellowstone

We headed to West Yellowstone for the weekend

So, the achivement of the weekend was finally capturing a family picture.

We also realized how lucky we are that we do not live in West Yellowstone...ridiculous amounts of snow.

I suppose you'd get used to not being able to see out any windows...and seriously, the pictures don't do it justice...you really need to see it for yourself.

This was Theron's pump station jobsite. They had cleared the snow and worked as far into the winter as they could and then shut down. It's been as low as 48 below without windchill there!

We caught some dinner when we got to town...this was a popular attraction for the kids. Morgan had to fix his outfit and Tyson tried to rip off his glasses but other than that, he survived every meal.

Then...we ventured out to do what the kids were looking forward to the most...swimming (and running in the halls of the hotel)!

Little chilly but nobody seemed to mind.

Getty up Daddy!

Kaitlyn put her new swimming skills to good use

Ah....a little R&R with some real TV channels...life doesn't get much better than this!

Daddy went snowmobiling with his buddies on Saturday so we found entertainment in and around the hotel.

Tyson was obsessed with watching the loader move snow...he'd watch it for hours if Mommy would have let him.

We found an old train to play on/in...

The kids really liked this

We also attempted to go outside and play in the snow but it was single digit temperatures and the wind was blowing so hard Tyson couldn't catch his breath. We had a couple sleds so we managed to load up and head downtown to visit some shops...we only made it to a candy shop but hey, if you're only going to one store...it might as well be a candy shop! Our outdoor adventure was somewhate miserable...so we headed back to the hotel and went swimming...twice.

Sunday the girls got to go on Snowmobiles (aka Motorcycles to Tyson)

Morgan and Daddy heading out

Kaitlyn got to ride the nice one with Andy

A beautiful but very cold day...they didn't last long.

We headed indoors to the Wolf and Grizzly discovery center.
They had a map inside that showed the playground area...well, here is was. Go ahead kids, once you climb over the 12 foot drift you can have the slide/luge course to yourselves.

OK...onto the Bears
This was Spirit, one of the old Mama Grizzlies
This one was Tyson's favorite. "He eatin sticks" he said.
Daddy with Tyson & Kaitlyn.
The fun meter was running out for Tyson "no cheese" he says.

So we went to see the puppy dogs...

Big puppies that cause lots of problems...

That would make a good shot.
Just kidding of course...well, kinda.
