So I kinda lied in my last post when I said the biggest event of the weekend was the boys moving...Ms. Kaitlyn topped them all with the sliver she got in her sweet little hand. In short: she got a toothpick in the palm of her hand (crawling on the carpet) Thursday afterschool and it broke off {insert ouch here}. Babysitter, Mommy and Daddy could not get it out but we knew there was part of it still left in there. So an inconclusive x-ray and 3 Urgent Care Doctor visits later they decided it was out of their league and referred us to a hand surgeon. This led us to an MRI to confirm just how much and where the sliver was. They were able to make a plan after that to figure out how much and where this thing was.
Because of her age and how deep it was, they decided to do surgery w/ general anesthesia to remove it. She was such a trooper through the whole thing.
It looks so innocent but it was getting very infected so we needed to get it out.
And, here it is...The Dagger.
We were glad they let us keep it because, well as you can imagine it's a very expensive piece of wood now...not to mention a cool show-and-tell for school. Everything went well and she's on the mend.
