Wrestling 2016

February brought us wrestling again this year.

This is where they practice in 3 Forks...upstairs of a stock yard. (seriously - it's a sweaty room that smells like manure and I'm certain the mice have the run of the joint when we're not there.) But it works and everyone just knows the deal.

Devin, who is old enough this year thought he'd like to wrestle too. It may be hard to see but he's on the far side, right in the middle, next to Tyson.

Line up by age and this is the beginning of the line. He was pretty excited...until it was time to pair up and practice. Then he cried and said he didn't want to wrestle.

Of course, when they circled up again for instruction he was right back out on the floor, next to Tyson. He did find a partner after this and fell a few times and decided he didn't want to wrestle afterall.

Ommm I don't want to wrestle...ommm please don't make me...:)

OK - enough about that silly kid.

Lookin' good.

He's on the left :-)

Here's Tyson as his fist tournament in Boulder vs a kid from Dillon.
He wrestled Pee-Wee Unlimited (66-79#) all year, weighing around 76#.

One may notice that Daddy is coaching this year too!

Then a kid from Whitehall.

He ended up winning first - way to start off the year!

Morgan and her buddy Corrie Jo watching the action.

But Addy was there too so that was a lot more fun.

After the matches they all had wrestling fever.
Thanks to Aunt Logan, we had plenty of singlets to share.

Dillon tournament - Devin felt like he needed to be out in the action during warm ups..

Nobody touch me...just want to be out here.

Tyson met his toughest opponent from last year, Justin.

He wrestled tough but lost in point.

Fortunately/unfortunately they were the only two in the bracket so they had to wrestle again that day.

Just won again but by less points and Tyson held his own.

Time for the Three Forks tournament. Mommy was volunteering in the bracket room so I snuck only a few pictures (and completely missed his first match).

Got this kiddo from Helena.

The Whitehall tournament was Divisionals. Mommy and the girls couldn't make it so Daddy snapped on photo of him on the metals stand. He had lost to Justin 7-3 but wrestled a really good match. Not sure who prompted him to give the #2 but he did it :) We'll say it's a peace sign.

Three Forks hosted a dual meet between Divisional's and the State meet. Pep talk by coach Nye.

Daddy doing a little coaching. He did such a great job with the kids this year. Nobody knew who he was (because we don't live in Three Forks) but in a short amount of time the kids were requesting him to coach their matches. He really added a lot to the program.

All lined up to get paired.

Low and behold look who he got paired with.
They are very evenly matched so it's exciting to watch. I videoed the whole match so didn't get any pictures but they were tied 2-2 and went into a long overtime. Tyson ended up getting taken down but he was o-so close to getting him this time!

Now back to Dillon for the State Tournament

Here's the crew during the grand march.

Again - I videoed everything so I'll try to get something posted on here.
He worked his way through the bracket...then the rematch with Justin for the championship. Just in got him again, 4-0 this time.
Tyson was happy with 2nd place and even said he plans to wrestle again next year. He had a great year and we'll look forward to him being in Beginners next year.

They are actually starting to become good buddies. Who knows, if Manhattan doesn't get their own wrestling program, they could be teammates.
(please forget that they were standing smack dab in the middle of the Dillon Beavers sign) :)
