Salvaging September

Smile. Life is still good....see?

Unless you're Chip...our run-a-way dog. He had to get fixed in September.
He LOVED this cone on his head.

No, not really...but I thought it was funny. He looked like a vacuum with his head down walking on the trail. He was supposed to make 10 days in the "cone of shame" but he made about 5 :) It was the only part of the procedure that kept him from running away (as the cone didn't fit through the rails on the fence). Otherwise, it's had no effect and the entire town of Manhattan has my cell phone on speed dial to let us know when he's out and about.

This boy is obsessed...after one trip to TFalls, and seeing Ashton all decked out in his tackle football gear.

He set this all out the night before so he could start playing first thing on Saturday. He even had the football ready :)

He watches the High School players practice through the fence. One night they had a Powder Puff Football Game. I mentioned that there were kids over playing football so he quickly headed out of the house and out to the fence line. He returned about 5 minutes later, thoroughly discouraged. "It's just girls...and girls don't know how to play football!"

Tyson made himself a go-kart with scrap wood and some screws. We believe he was disappointed in its performance so he decided to sell it. He asked Devin to help him carry it out to the road, that way people can see it.

After some further thought...he decided to go with an amphibious type go-cart. Genius. It completely solved the "no-wheels" problem. If this picture had audio you would hear him singing about sailing the 7 seas. Seriously, we can't make this stuff up.

Here are two more of their "shop creations". They had some help on these from Kaitlyn and the neighbor Payden.

They're quite proud, as they should be!

We're really into building things lately...see his fort?
It's equipped with army guns and soldiers out front.

A quick stop at WalMart and the boys found some tires for their go-kart. They might be a little big but we'll ask Daddy to be sure.

September brings football in the backyard. We watch a little bit of the game.

But mostly play catch or tag with our friends, which is awesome!

Daddy has been helping on the 'chain gang' so these three were his helpers getting things put away afterward.

The cat, happy to have Kaitlyn home after school. It's really sweet but quite pathetic too.

More before-school photos.

                                                          Love these fall mornings!

Morgan (bottom right) and her class working on the new mobile computer lab laptops. The PTO, which I volunteer with helped raised money to buy them so it's awesome to see them put to good use.

We even got a visit from Katy Day in September! I had told the kids that we had a guest coming over for dinner. The suspense was killing them, especially Morgan. She broke out Devin's binoculars so she could get the first glance at who it might be.

And a good blog post is not complete without some happy ends.

I fully realize they are going to be mortified when they're 14 but...it's too cute!

What exactly are you doing?
"Just lookin" he says.
