So this time of year is bona fide crazy for us (like most) but we managed to get out of town for a weekend (without the kids). The best part of the story is we went to Denver to see George Strait! This is something we've wanted to do for awhile so we booked it back in early December. Gotta hand it to Theron as I was hesitant to spend money on it but I'm soooooo glad he insisted. Shortly thereafter he announced that it was his final tour, so that made it even more awesome!

Green Grandma was nice enough to come watch the kiddos and they had a great time. There are no pictures but plenty of funny stories!

Grandpa JD and Ginny decided to come with us (as we'd bought 4 tickets) which made it even more fun.
Our first stop was Friday night in Casper, WY where we managed to get out on the town...eat breakfast at 1 am (something I haven't done in quite a few years) and then headed down to Denver on Saturday.
Theron picked the restaurant, which was Benihana's...he had plenty of sushi to eat by himself.
Ginny trying Sake (Japanese Rice Beer) and Dad, the only one willing to try one piece of sushi.
It was a great meal with good entertainment.
Here we are, full as ticks and ready to go to the concert.
Along with 20,000 other people.
Another highlight to the trip...these were our seats! Row 15!
And we were early (something I'm no longer known for).
Lee Ann Womack was the opening act, which was awesome.
The 2nd act was Merle Haggard, who was looking pretty haggard. He didn't do much moving around so we saw the back side of the band for his entire show. Which was kinda OK :)
THEN....Oh I can't even describe how overwhelming it was to see him come on stage and sing "The Fireman." That was a song I listened to over and over as a kid (having no idea what it meant) so it was bittersweet.
What a great night and a great memory. It was fitting for him to receive the Entertainer of the Year the following night at the ACM's in Vegas!

Unfortunately we had to rise and drive all the way back to Bozeman on Sunday but it was a great trip and would do it again in a heartbeat.
We did make one "touristy" stop on the way home to Kaycee, WY where they had a tribute to Chris LeDoux.
Pretty impressive.
And there we are...tired and ready to be home :)
